Altering Pots with Excellence

Ready to take your pottery to the next level? Join Julia for this lively eight-week intermediate to advanced class designed for potters who want to expand their skills and elevate their work through creative alteration techniques.

You’ll learn how to push, pull, paddle, cut, and combine clay forms in exciting new ways. Julia will demonstrate how to create forms such as altered casserole dishes with fitted lids, vessels with flat sides, bowls with split rims, and more. Along the way, you’ll discover how to use your hands, tools, slabs, and imagination to transform your thrown pots into truly unique pieces.

Expect to be challenged, supported, and inspired in equal measure, all the while having fun while doing it! By the end of the session, you’ll walk away with a toolkit of new skills and the confidence to keep experimenting with your craft.

In the eight-week session, you will work with wet clay for the first six weeks of class. The seventh class will be spent putting finishing touches and cleaning your pieces, as well as planning out what glazes you want to use on your beautiful creations. The eighth and last class is a solely spent glazing and it will run one hour longer so you’ll have enough time to get the job done.
