This is a very special Workshop! We are bringing Amazing Potter Josh DeWeese in from Montana.
Let's discover how to create pots that speak with character, energy, and individuality in this inspiring hands-on workshop with celebrated ceramic artist Josh DeWeese. Explore the elements that give a pot its unique personality, from form and proportion to gesture, surface, and movement, and learn how to develop those qualities into a voice that is distinctly your own.
Through demonstrations, discussion, and plenty of studio exploration, Josh will share a variety of throwing and altering techniques designed to push functional pottery beyond the ordinary and into expressive art. Students will investigate dynamic forms, playful modifications, and approaches that bring life and presence to everyday vessels.
The workshop will also dive into discussions about surface treatments, firing approaches, and the creative decision-making that transforms a pot from simply functional into deeply personal. Presentations featuring Josh’s work alongside contemporary ceramics will provide inspiration and insight into the evolving language of pottery today.
Whether you are looking to loosen up your forms, deepen your artistic voice, or recharge your creative practice, this workshop offers an exciting opportunity to learn, experiment, and grow in a supportive and energetic environment. Come ready to make pots with spirit, individuality, and personality!
